A New Movie About Donald Trump!

You may recall that Trump’s Presidential Administration began to go down the tubes when Rudy Giuliani went over to Ukraine with Trump’s blessing to dig up dirt on the Bidens — father and son. But what was never really discussed during that episode was that Rudy’s trip to Ukraine was primarily motivated by his attempt to scout locations and interview various individuals, the purpose of which was to develop a script that would be used to make an alt-right documentary which would play in movie theaters located in conservative districts during the 2020 campaign.

The movie, of course, never got made, but I’m wondering whether this brief attempt by Rudy Giuliani to become another Daryl Zanuck has anything to do with the news that a movie about Donald Trump’s early professional life, in particular his relationship with and reliance on the contacts and influence of Roy Cohn, will be released to over — ready? — two thousand screens next month, October 11th to be exact.

Back in the mid-90’s, before everyone began hooking up their laptops to wide-screen TVs and stayed home to watch all those streams, it was estimated that there were more than 7,500 locations which showed movies throughout the United States. The current estimate is now around 5,800 such sites, which means that this new movie, what is referred to in the trade as a biopic, will be playing on nearly 40% of all…
