After the Election, What Should We Do?

I was verbally roasted this morning by a very dear and close friend, a woman I have known since high school and whom I took to our senior prom.

She is a resolute and committed liberal, reads my stories and this morning told me that she was very pissed off because rather than going after the GOP, she thought I spent too much time and too many words criticizing our side.

She was particularly upset about one of my stories, where I said that a recent Supreme Court decision allowing states to nullify medical practices which denied women the right to choose was nothing more than a big, fundraising opportunity for Planned Parenthood. My friend thought this comment demonstrated on my part both a callousness and a failure to appreciate the role played by Planned Parenthood on women’s health.

She was correct on both counts, and although I would never (read: never) go along with the attempts by the GOP to push women and women’s issues back to where they were when my friend and I were kids, I feel that perhaps I owe my readership a little more detailed explanation about why I might sometimes appear to be less concerned about Republic(an) transgressions and more critical about so-called shortcomings on our side.

First of all, let me say that I don’t really have the stomach to confront Donald Trump on a daily basis…
