Are ‘Violent’ Campus Demonstrations So Violent?

There’s a virtual research organization out there called Armed Conflict Location and Events Data (ACLED) which I have consulted multiple times for the writing I have been doing about gun violence over the last twelve years, and I can say without fear of contradiction, that the work of the scholars and researchers connected to this group is superb.

ACLED has just released a report covering 533 Gaza demonstrations on U.S. college campuses between April 18th and May 3rd, which found that probably no more than 20 of these demonstrations resulted in any serious physical or property damage. Meanwhile, during the same three-week period, ACLED also found that there were at least 70 demonstrations where the cops showed up and used violent tactics to arrest or disperse campus groups.

The report also found that when students gathered together in unopposed actions, the cops have intervened against pro-Palestine demonstrations more than five-and-a-half times as often as pro-Israel demonstrations.

But of course, we know for a fact that all those ‘outsiders’ coming into college campuses waving their Palestinian flags and chanting pro-Hamas slogans must be paid sympathizers for the terrorists or maybe they’re the terrorists themselves.
