Bernie Sanders and RFK, Jr., — Just What the Neighborhood Needs.

So, now RFK Jr. has a new ally in what he promises will be his fight to make Americans healthier who is none other than Senator Bernie Sanders, the self-described ‘socialist’ from Vermont.

This past week, Sanders went after the FDA at a committee hearing in which he claimed that the government agency responsible for regulating unhealthy foods and beverages, the FDA, has ‘failed’ in its efforts to protect consumers by allowing the food industry to market processed foods which are addictive and lead to a higher risk of diabetes.

According to Sanders, the makers of ultra processed foods and high-calorie drinks spent $14 billion last year advertising their products which are loaded up with sugar, salt and saturated fats which lead to obesity and diabetes and threaten the health of everyone living in the United States.

The rant by Sanders follows from statements made by RFK, Jr., who has been saying that he’s going to either abolish the agency or cut the alleged ‘ties’ between the FDA and the food industry, although he has yet to explain what that connection actually means, other than some vague comments about unhealthy eating and unhealthy foods.
