Good morning.

This is story number 2,000 that I have posted on my MiketheGunGuy website since I posted my first story on May 2, 2013. So here goes.

Back in 2014, I was part of a group which met several times to help draft a post-Sandy Hook gun bill, which was eventually called the Manchin-Toomey bill and went nowhere fast.

The effort to produce this legislation was led by the Vice President, a guy named Jo Biden, who learned from that experience that there were just too many states where more restrictions on guns simply wouldn’t work.

What he also learned was that some additional regulations on guns could be developed by changing or adding new rules to gun laws, particularly the 1968 law, through administrative fiat.

Last week, the Administration finalized a new rule which defines the phrase ‘gun dealer,’ and will require many people who now engage in buying and selling guns as a hobby or a part-time gig to become federally licensed dealers and thus fall under the regulatory control of the ATF.

In other words, anyone who wants to make a buck by selling a gun to someone else, must be enrolled in the national gun dealer’s registry and must impose a background check on the individual to whom the dealer sells a gun.
