Can Anyone in the GOP Beat Trump?

So, the December jobs report was just issued and because the numbers are good, the report is being greeted with a big yawn.

Actually, the jobs report wasn’t good — it was spectacular!

The economy was supposed to add 170,000 jobs in December. In fact, the number of new jobs was 216,000, which was only 22% higher than what we thought the number was going to be.

As a result of this jobs gain, the unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7%, which is the longest that the monthly unemployment rate has held under 4% since the mid-1960’s, which is only a half-century ago.

When I was a kid, the government used to say that ‘full employment,’ i.e., everyone was working who wanted to be work, occurred when the unemployment rate was 5% or less. So, I guess we now are experiencing full employment plus, but nobody seems to care.

But hold on, because the news gets even better. The average hourly wage in 2023 went up by 4.1% and that ‘ruinous inflation’ last year ended up at 3.1% for November, so the real money that people earned last year went up, not down.

That all being said, do you think that Donald Trump is going to stop casting aspersions about ‘Bidenonomics’ in his nightly MAGA performance? Of course not. Do you think that God forbid, maybe the Fake News would stop…
