Can ‘Teflon Don’ Trump Beat the Rap?

Remember a New York gangster named John Gotti? He was the head of the Gambino crime family who beat both New York State and the Feds in criminal trials three straight times. By the time he was found innocent at the end of his third trial in 1997, Gotti had become a national celebrity (got his picture on the front of Time Magazine) and the media routinely referred to him as the ‘Teflon Don.’

I’m hoping that Donald Trump will beat the rap he’s now facing in a New York State courtroom, because I would love the media to dust off Gotti’s nickname and begin calling Trump ‘Teflon Don.’ Or maybe just to keep things in perspective, Trump can be referred to as ‘Teflon Don II.’

But either way, whether Trump is convicted or acquitted in his current trial, I think it would be entirely appropriate to give him some kind of Mafia-sounding nickname because you may think that from January 20, 2017 until January 20, 2021 that Donald Trump was in charge of a Presidential administration, but what he was really doing and continues doing is running a crime family whose resilience and reach puts the Cosa Nostra to shame.

I remember back in 2018 when Michael Cohen first started talking about how Trump directed him to pay off Stormy Daniels and another woman to keep their mouths shut, Trump went on then-Twitter and referred to Cohen as a ‘rat,’ although…
