Can the United States Avoid a Catastrophe?
So, yesterday I received an email from a rather noted public figure, asking me for money.
And here is a little bit of what he said was going to happen unless we did what he said we should do: “We are in the midst of the worst public tragedy of my lifetime — the despoiling and destruction of America.”
Sounds a lot like Trump, doesn’t it?
Except it wasn’t Trump. It was Robert Reich asking me to subscribe to his blog and buy his new book.
Let me tell you something right now. It’s a sad state of affairs when people on our side of the political divide have to sound like Donald Trump in order to contribute an opinion to today’s state of affairs.
The despoiling and destruction of America? What the fuck is Reich talking about?
Never mind the fact that everyone who wants to work has a job. Never mind the fact that not a single American soldier is deployed in any country where he or she might be in harm’s way. Never mind that yesterday I paid the same price for a gallon of gasoline that I paid in 2010.
In the past week, courts have ruled against various Trump schemes five separate times. Will those decisions stand after those cases go to the Supreme Court? We’ll see what we’ll see, but right now those kids who were supposed to be…
