Can Trump and the GOP Shift Gears?
So, today I was watching Dana Bash on CNN interviewing Henry Barbour, who is a member of the RNC Program Committee and also happens to be the nephew of the former GOP Mississippi Governor, Haley Barbour.
I was a V.P. of IT for a Fortune-100 insurance company when Haley Barbour was Governor and was also working as a lobbyist for the insurance industry in Washington, D.C. As a senior manager of my company, it was ‘suggested’ that I kick in a hundred bucks every year to a fund which the corporation then spent on lobbying efforts in D.C. and elsewhere.
About a week after I received my paycheck which contained the additional deduction, a video surfaced on the internet which showed Haley Barbour, completely drunk and putting his hands all over some young woman during an office shindig the previous week.
I couldn’t resist sending a note to the CEO of my company telling him that I hoped our payment to Barbour would thank him for his superb lobbying efforts as caught in the video, of which of course I sent a link to our CEO.
To his credit, the CEO didn’t reply to my note.
So, now we have the next-generation iteration of Haley Barbour, in the form of his nephew, who happens to be a managing partner of a lobbying firm, a different firm than the lobbying company his uncle founded in 1991 and to…
