Does It Matter If Trump Tells the Truth?
Well, it’s about fucking time. Someone in the Fake News galaxy has finally given us an explanation for why the liberal reporters and pundits who cover political campaigns have been so reluctant, indeed almost obsessively unable to cover Trump in an honest and forthright way.
I’m talking about a feature writer for New York Magazine, Jonathan Chait, who argues that the media employs a double standard when they do stories about Trump versus the stories they do on Kamala, because in Trump’s case, he is allowed to skate through an entire political campaign without promoting a single, substantive issue But worse, “his violations of democratic and civic norms are so widespread that the media have given up on holding him to anything resembling a customary standard of behavior for a presidential candidate.”
That’s all well and good, and I’m pleased that a member of the Fake News guild has finally confronted his colleagues on their inability to talk about Trump in honest terms.
But that having been said, what does Chait suggest should be done by the Fake News to foster the correct image and analysis of Trump that he deserves?
