Does Trump Need Science?

I have just started reading Anthony Fauci’s autobiography, On Call, and will have more to say about the book when I’m finished, but in the meantime, I can’t get over how this modest, yet brilliant scientist was made into a sacrificial goat by Donald Trump to cover up the Administration’s non-response to Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the group hoping to take the MAGA reins from Trump if he departs for a sojourn in Otisville or Butner are still trying to paint Fauci as a devil incarnate who should be made to suffer for his alleged ‘crimes.’

Here we have someone as stupidly self-promoting as Marjorie Taylor Greene not only berating Fauci at a public hearing for his alleged attempt to cover up how the Covid-19 virus was manufactured in a Wuhan lab, but she then gets in front of an alt-right crowd and says that he should be locked up for committing ‘crimes against humanity.’

And of course, her audience responds by chanting, ‘lock him up!’

I don’t think there’s any one thing which more clearly illustrates how Donald Trump was entirely unfit to occupy the chair behind the real Resolute desk than how he responded to the Covid crisis, in particular his decision to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization because the WHO didn’t immediately sanction the Chinese government for its alleged culpability in how it dealt with the…
