Donald TrumpSets a New Stabndard for Stupidity.

Yesterday, Donald Trump said something so fucking stupid on his website that I’m really sorry the federal government didn’t shut itself down permanently last week which would have resulted in the office of President going away once and for all.

I’m referring to Trump’s comment about why we should ‘take back’ the Panama Canal because of the fees ships are charged for using the waterway, as if the United States can simply disregard any international treaty we signed any time it wants.

Which made me start thinking about what would really happen if the federal government ceased to exist?

The first thing that would happen is that the income taxes that are taken out of everyone’s paycheck every week or every other week would stop being collected by every employer whose company has a federal I.D., except I guarantee you that every state government would then hold an emergency legislative session and vote to have those funds sent to a state depository which would then spend that money for the same purposes that the money is now spent by the feds.

And this would mean that all those federal workers who would have been furloughed last week if they hadn’t made a deal to keep the federal government going until March would have been back at work in a day or two doing the same things they were doing…
