Here Comes the Cavalry!

3 min readOct 9, 2025

This pic is a couple of years old, but it’s more or less the same National Guard putzes that are right now supposed to be protecting the city of Portland from some kind of criminal threat.

Trump has always had a hard-on for Portland since the demonstrations in that city after the killing of George Floyd (and Trump’s failure to say anything right away) may have cost him the 2020 election. The problem, of course, in sending the National Guard anywhere, is that the President can’t just deploy a military force within the United States unless the move is approved by the Governor of the state where the troops will be used.

Right now, the courts are weighing whether a President can federalize a National Guard unit but also determine where the unit will conduct a military operation, or what is called the difference between ‘federalizing’ and ‘deploying’ armed troops.

If the 9th Circuit Appeals Court doesn’t let Trump decide how the Guard units will be used and assuming that his appeal to the Supreme Court also is rejected, that’s the end of Trump using this phony ‘war on terrorism’ to regain the support he’s lost with that stupid, DOGE nonsense which nobody’s talking about anymore.

Trump also has his Gaza peace plan rolling along and I can see him standing on a street in Gaza greeting the hostages as they are released. And of course…
