How Come Everyone’s So Poor?

Today the eagle-eyed lawyer sister sent me a link to a story which claims that 65% of all middle class Americans are struggling financially and having trouble paying their usual bills, let alone having the financial resources to deal with an unexpected financial loss.

The source of this information was a national poll conducted by the Urban Institute back in June that was published by an outfit called the National True Cost of Living Coalition whose membership includes the Center for American Progress, the Legal Aid Society, the Hispanic Federation and a bunch of other liberal, compassionate-minded groups who together want to ensure that ‘true economic security is a possibility for all Americans.’

Isn’t the idea of economic security what Trump says has disappeared over the last four years? Doesn’t he want to go back to the Oval Office and make America ‘great’ again which obviously means a better and more secure life for all?

That’s true, except the difference is that groups like the National True Cost blah, blah, blah group believes we can achieve that goal by spending more government money in smarter ways, whereas Trump and the GOP believe we can get there without involving the government at all.

These two strategies for making sure that everyone has the money they need to feel secure happen to be the same…
