How Should We Deal With Trump?
So, three days after Orange Shithead wins a resounding electoral victory over the twin forces of liberalism and feminism, we get the official, liberal response from none other than David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker Magazine. And if Remnick’s nonsense goes on to become the standard by which the Democrat(ic) Party goes about reacting to the next four years of Trump sitting his fat ass behind the real Resolute desk, as Grandpa would say, ‘gai, gezinta hai’ (read: good riddance.)
The piece is titled, ‘It Can Happen Here,’ and has a sub-title about how this is a ‘deeply dangerous moment’ in American life. Since we all know that when we use the phrase ‘it can happen here,’ we are trying to conjure up a repeat of Germany in 1933, then anything we say about how we should respond to Trump’s victory on Tuesday is permissible and valid because, after all, the last thing we want to see are the boxcars lined up to take the unwanted populations to Buchenwald and Auschwitz, or just herd them together and throw them the hell out.
Remnick goes on to tell us that in 2016, many Americans (other than Remnick) didn’t understand “just what a threat [Trump] posed to international alliances and domestic institutions, how contemptuous he was of the truth, science, the press, and so many of his fellow-citizens.”
