If Trump Wins and Shuts Down Jack Smith — Then What?
If there’s one reason above all other reasons why we have to get rid of Donald Trump on November 5th, it’s that if he somehow manages to get his fat ass back onto the Oval Office for another four years, the one thing that will surely happen will be the shutting down of Jack Smith’s investigation and indictment of Trump for his role in the riot of January 6th.
I am still not ready to call that event an ‘insurrection, because I would like the fact that a sitting President attempted to eliminate the government of which he was pledged to protect proven in a court of law.
But even if 12 jurors sitting in a courtroom in Washington, D.C. decide that there is not sufficient proof to convict Trump of the charges contained in Smith’s revised indictment, at least we will have a full and complete knowledge of what Trump did and didn’t do on that fateful day.
Because if there was one thing about the way Trump behaved on January 6th, it’s the fact that as a band of marauders who had been invited by Trump to come to D.C. on that day tore their way through the Capitol building, the first time the seat of the national government was attacked since it was burned by the British in 1812, Trump couldn’t find anything to say to them for over three hours after he told the crowd to go to the Capitol and ‘fight like Hell.’
