Is Tim Walz Too Liberal About Health Care?
Today’s MedPage has a really good article covering what conservatives versus liberals are saying about the health policies instituted by Tim Walz since he became Governor of Minnesota, and what the article really does is give us a pretty clear picture of what the alt-right considers to be the proper role of government in public health, which boils down to the idea that those schmucks don’t believe in any kind of public health at all.
The article bases its conservative views about Walz largely from the work of a lobbying organization known as the Galen Institute, which started up to oppose Clinton’s attempt to widen government health coverage and was again very active in opposing Obama’s ACA.
The group refers to itself as an educational operation which helps Americans understand the value of “individual freedom, consumer choice, and competition in the health sector” (I’m quoting from their website) which is the usual claptrap you get from the idiots out there who believe that medical treatment should be just like any other product in the marketplace, i.e., you get what you pay for and if you can’t afford to pay, as Bill Cosby once said in a very funny routine, you can have the ambulance drop you off not at the hospital but at the morgue.
