Is Trump Beginning to Fade?
Drip, drip, drip. As we get closer to November 5th and feeling that Trump is going to lose a Presidential election for the second time, bit by bit Republicans here, there, and all over are beginning to just put a little daylight between themselves and their Presidential candidate.
Maybe I’m overstating this movement, maybe I’m not, but when a two-term Senate incumbent like Ted Cruz finds himself at best even and maybe slightly behind his Democratic opponent in an effort to win a third term, you have to consider the possibility that being a staunch Trump political ally may not be such a good thing.
Right now, RCP has the Democrats up 46% to 44% in the ‘generic’ Congressional vote. The fact that there is still a 10-percent undecided vote here means that things could still go either way.
But, and it’s an important but, the last time that either party held a 2% advantage was way back in March, when the GOP was out in front, even though Trump’s first place ranking on the national ticket wasn’t yet assured. The Democrats, on the other hand, started leading in the generic Congressional poll on August 8th, which was just when the Harris-Walz campaign began to pick up steam.
