Is Trump Crazy or Dumb or Both?
A little bit of history to get started, okay?
On April 20, 1945, Adolph Hitler learned that the entire German army had collapsed on both fronts and that Berlin would be totally invaded by Russian and Allied troops. At the daily afternoon conference which he held with his closest associates and military leaders, he demanded that an order be issued calling for the complete destruction of all food stores and food supplies throughout the entire Third Reich.
When one of his generals said that such an order, if carried out, would result in the country’s population starving to death, Hitler replied that it was better if all Germans died than be forced to live under a government run by America, England and the Bolsheviks.
At which point, the group realized that the leader of the German government had gone completely insane.
This episode is described in detail by William Shirer in the concluding chapter of The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
Over this past weekend I tuned into part of Trump’s speech at a rally in Philadelphia. The rally was held on the campus of Temple University, which happens to be located about five miles from where Rudy Giuliani held that crazy press conference when he announced the campaign to ‘stop the fraud’ and declare Trump to be the winner of the 2020 campaign.
