It’s Time to Finish the 2024 Campaign.

By the time I post this story on my Medium blog, Kamala may have already announced the name of her proposed running-mate, so some of what I’m about to say may not be as relevant as I always want my stories to be.

But regardless of who she picks out of what appears now to be a grab-bag of five willing supplicants, you can be guaranteed that the person she names as her Number Two will be immediately compared to J. D. Vance and no doubt the comparison will be made in favorable terms for the individual who joins Kamala’s team.

I say this because I simply don’t recall any Vice-Presidential candidate of either political persuasion generating the degree of negative uproar which has erupted around Vance, and with all due respect to the sensitivities of childless adults, I find it somewhat difficult to understand the degree of anger and rancor that Vance’s reference to ‘childless cat ladies’ evoked.

In fact, Kamala posted a statement on her X page which had Vance talking about a federal law to criminalize any woman who sought an abortion by crossing a state line which was, in my estimation, a much worse and much more flagrant assault on women than anything connecting childless women, and yet this statement didn’t garner anywhere near the attention that Vance received for his stupid and silly remark about women and cats.
