Just What the Neighborhood Needs — Another Gun-Control Group.

It figures that once a Presidential candidate is shot at twice, or at least shot at once and almost shot at twice, once again we would find ourselves in yet another discussion focusing on gun violence in the United States.

And the only thing which continues to be as pervasive and continuous as the hundred thousand plus deaths and injuries that we suffer from guns being used inappropriately or illegally every year, is the endless and continuous efforts to actually do something about this endemic feature of American life.

So now, just what the neighborhood needs is yet another organization which wants to do something about gun violence. They call themselves Legislators for Safer Communities, and describe themselves as “an independent, nonpartisan coalition of state legislators across all 50 states committed to reducing gun violence.”

The whole point of this new operation is to try and do at the state level what the Federal Government has failed to do, namely pass laws and promote programs that will at least reduce, if not end what has become (to quote our dear, late friend Dr. Kathy Christoffel) an endemic situation in American life.

Which is all fine and well except that this allegedly non-partisan group already believes they understand why we suffer from so much…
