McDonald’s Breakfast Club Meets Again.
Every so often on my way to work in the morning, I’ll stop off at Mickey D’s where I pay a buck-fifty for the same cup of coffee which costs three-fifty and can get at the Starbucks further down the street.
Rather than going through the drive-thru, I park my car, walk inside, pay for my coffee at the counter and sit down next to a group of oldsters who refer to themselves as the ‘morning club.’
This bunch meets at Mickey D’s every weekday morning and have been evidently coming together this way for a number of years. The agenda always begins with the names of club members who are now in the hospital or have checked out of the hospital to go home or check into the funeral parlor, which is also conveniently located down the street.
After the sick call, the next order of business is to disclose the name or names of tradesmen who either did some good work on their home or took a home repair problem and made it worse.
Then we move to the really important news, or at least the news which generates the most heated and emotional views, namely, what everything costs and why the goddamn prices keep going up.
