Reich Calls Trump a Fascist and Gets It All Wrong.
There is a website out there called Inequality Media Civic Action which appears to have been co-founded by Robert Reich in 2015 and is committed to discussing inequality and power in the Unted States, more specifically “universal basic income, labor rights protection, the racial wealth gap, affordable housing, and gerrymandering.”
What the website really seems to be is a place where Reich can shoot off his mouth every day because evidently getting up in front of a bunch of students at Berkeley just isn’t his whole piece of cake.
What the website doesn’t promote right now is Reich’s more recent fixation, which is his belief that Orange Trump is not only a Fascist but is intent on turning America into a Fascist state. Reich’s analysis of the Fascist threat represented by Trump is so far away from what Fascism has represented since it first appeared around a century ago, that I almost feel a little sorry for Mister Orange Shithead Number 45, except that I really don’t.
On the other hand, I feel compelled to issue a corrective to Reich’s analysis of Trumpian politics plus how he analyzes Fascism because: a) he’s an important voice in our contemporary political environment, and b) we need to understand the true nature of Trump’s presence until and unless he is given a luxury accommodation at Butner, Otisville…
