Should We Be Worried About Trump?
Back in the Summer of 2008, my wife and I were enjoying a nice lunch on the outside deck of a restaurant in a nearby town. This was in the midst of the Presidential campaign and we, along with all our liberal friends, couldn’t believe that Obama was not only competitive against John McCain, but might actually win.
As we were sitting there, a woman whom we knew came up to us wearing a big, Obama button on her dress. She told us that she was a volunteer for the Obama campaign and that she would do anything to help him win because, as she put it, “we’ve all suffered terribly under Bush.”
This terribly-suffering woman was a nurse who now owned a private ‘birthing center’ in this town. For a substantial fee which was not covered by any insurance plan, a woman could have her baby in this place and the new infant would be immediately placed in a warm tub of water to ease the physical trauma of live birth. At the same time that the baby was being cared for in such a compassionate and beautiful way, someone would be sitting in the birthing room quietly strumming on a guitar.
And to make the whole experience even better and more meaningful for the new parents, they could take the placenta home, cook it up using one of the recipes provided by the birthing center and serve it for dinner to their friends.
