Should We Follow Gun Laws Passed by the Feds?

Back in 2021, when they had nothing better to do, the geniuses who represent the GOP is Missouri’s State Legislature passed a law which not only prevented public officials in the state from preventing any state resident from exercising their so-called 2nd-Amendment ‘rights,’ but actually established severe penalties for anyone who tried to enforce any federal gun laws.

This exercise in legal stupidity, known as the Second Amendment Preservation Act, basically invalidates all Federal gun regulations, instead allowing Missouri residents to buy and own guns based on state-level gun-control statutes, of which in Missouri there are basically none.

So, for example, under this bizarre exercise in crazy jurisprudence, someone living in Missouri could purchase a gun without having to undergo a background check to determine whether they had previously committed a felony or had been locked away in a loony bin. And worse, if a cop found a gun on someone and took it away because a database check found that the individual had, in fact, been convicted of an assault, the cop could be charged and put in jail because he had violated this new law.

The Feds immediately challenged this attempt by Missouri to pretend that when it comes to guns, the state no longer needed to follow the Constitution, the law stating: “All federal acts…
