Should We Put Up with Internet Hate?

So, yesterday Curt Schilling, the former Red Sox pitcher, goes on Twitter/X and posts what can only be described as a vicious, blatantly anti-Semitic comment from some alt-right group which contains the following sentence: “how does this extremely tiny minority find itself in such influential positions, leading, and in many cases, dominating important sectors of a nation, in such disproportionate numbers compared to their population, when they didn’t even found said nation?”

In case you didn’t know it, what Schilling is telling us is that he’s a complete and total asshole, make no mistake about that. And the only people who will take this comment seriously are people who are just as dumb and fucked up as he is.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be on a major league baseball team that wins three World Series titles. You can also be a complete idiot and a shithead to boot and still play in the majors for 20 years.

But you would think that somewhere along the line someone would have come up to Schilling and told him just to keep his fucking mouth shut because what he was saying or repeating simply didn’t need to be said, at least not said in public, right?

Maybe it’s just that I’m an old fart (79 y/o) and just don’t get it. Maybe I don’t understand the concept or practice of ‘free speech.’ Maybe I…
