Soldiers Versus Lawyers: Guess Who Wins?

2 min readOct 10, 2025

When Donald Trump started sending National Guard units to various cities, the liberal media was convinced we were beginning to see the true collapse of American democracy and its replacement by a Fascist-led, military-armed state.

Except there was one little problem with Trump’s plan, which is that like everything else in America, you’ll always find some lawyer who has the time to draft a petition, take it to a court and get a judge to say that nothing’s going to happen because in this country, everyone’s entitled to their day in court.

And by the way, go all the way back to the drafting of our Constitution and you’ll discover that more than half the delegates who showed up at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia to write the original document (34 out of 55) happened to be lawyers, okay?

So, if nothing else, the United States was going to be a country in which lawyers would always have something to do.

Be that as it may, we also tell lots of bad jokes about lawyers because most of us, sooner or later, have to deal with a lawyer who’s trying to get us to pay a debt, or maybe give the ex-wife some more money, or maybe do something else we don’t want to do.

What do we call ten thousand lawyers at the bottom of the sea? A good start.
