Thank God He’s Still Around.

Okay. Here it is. The penultimate proof that if anyone still believes that Donald Trump is going to play any role in politics going forward, they are either totally delusional, or they are still on Trump’s dwindling payroll, or they want to be on Trump’s payroll.Hh

Anyway, here’s the proof — a statement by Trump on his website on a page which he refers to as ‘news:’

“Never in history has a withdrawal from war been handled so badly or incompetently as the Biden Administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. In addition to the obvious, ALL EQUIPMENT should be demanded to be immediately returned to the United States, and that includes every penny of the $85 billion dollars in cost. If it is not handed back, we should either go in with unequivocal Military force and get it, or at least bomb the hell out of it.”

No President has ever made a statement about foreign affairs which is this dumb. Once again, Trump puts himself in a class all by himself.

I can just see it now. The Afghans will hand back the hi-tech stuff, which they probably don’t know how to operate anyway. Then they’ll give up the missiles and drones because they still have plenty of that stuff left over from their fight against Russia. Then they’ll give back a couple of container-loads of ammunition, because nobody really knows how many gazillions of rounds of AK-47 ammo are sitting around anyway.

But they’ll keep the K-rations. You don’t ever give up K-rations, particularly the meals with the strawberry-shortcake desserts. Nobody ever gives that stuff up.

So, Donald Trump will get the Airborne at Fort Bragg to pack up their gear, squeeze themselves onto a bunch of C-5A transports, fly thirteen hours to Hamad Karzai Airport outside of Kabul, and jump out of the planes, cocked, and locked, or locked and cocked (I forget which is which) to bring back the spam, the potato chips, and the strawberry shortcakes.

And by the way, I love how the main airport in Afghanistan is named after one of the biggest crooks in a country whose so-called government has been producing big crooks for more than a hundred years.

That would be like changing the name of O’Hare Airport to Al Capone Airport. Or maybe the Dade County Commissioners can rename the Miami airport after Meyer Lansky. Maybe they can call the airport Lansky International. Has a nice ring, doesn’t it?

But let’s get back to Trump.

I also notice on his website that Trump has no public events scheduled. Not one. I guess that’s because he’s still trying to figure out how to stand up in front of his so-called ‘base’ and say something positive about taking the vaccine.

What he should do is get up at a rally and tell everyone that getting vaccinated was a mistake. Then he can advise the crowd to protect themselves from the Kung Flu by taking a dose of stuff which is used to treat some medical problems which flare up in — horses.

The good news is that right now, Joe seems to be doing okay. The troops are really out of Afghanistan, so the deadline for removal was met. The preparations for Hurricane Ida went off without a hitch, and while nobody in Southern Louisiana has electricity, the storm wasn’t another Katrina, that’s for sure.

Remember when Trump went down to Puerto Rico in 2017 after Hurricane Maria and engaged in a bit of storm relief by throwing paper towels into the crowd? That made-for-video moment may have been the most disgusting and racist behavior of his entire Presidential term.

Here’s the one problem with Trump’s slow but sure slide into Presidential oblivion. As he fades away, we’ll begin to forget just how stupid and pathetic he really was. We’ll forget that the President of the United States referred to other sovereign nations as ‘shithole countries.’ We’ll forget that he went to a police convention and told the cops it was okay to bash someone’s head while they were being pushed into the back seat of a police car. And we may even forget that there were some ‘good people’ marching down the street in Charlottesville sporting Nazi swastikas on their arms.

Generally speaking, we like to use our memories, individually and collectively, to recall the good and forget the bad. Which is why I am convinced that Trump will play absolutely no role in politics going forward, because there was no good.

On the other hand, I don’t put it past my friends in the ‘fake news’ media to do whatever they can to keep Trump politically alive. Unless, of course, the GOP comes up with a new Trump-like character who will go around and tell everyone that the January 6th riot was nothing more than an exercise in free speech.

Right now, I’ll take the long odds on Rand Paul.
