That wasn’t the issue. The issue is whether we understand anything by calling Trump a ‘fascist.’ Because unless we understand what he is and what he represents, how do you come up with an effective response? One of these days I’m going to do a map of the United States comparing solid GOP states to solid Democratic states and I guarantee you that the solid GOP states are still much less diverse than the Democratic states.
What did Trump run on in 2016 and again in 2020? He ran on fear, the fear being the ‘invasion’ of non-Whites into the United States. What did Hitler run on? He ran on blame, blaming Jews and Communists for Germany losing World War I and the economic collapse that followed the war.
Those are two very different messages. But now Trump has changed his tune. He’s now blaming the Deep State and the ultra-Left for ‘stealing’ the election. That’s a very different message and we need to come up with a strong response.
Medium gives me a very accurate report of how many people read every article that I put up. The article I did on Garland’s speech received three(!) times more views than any other article I have done in the past 6 months. But now Garland is back working behind the scenes. Shouldn’t every Democrat be reminding everyone every day about how Trump is guilty for January 6th?
