The GOP Embraces Dumbness

Two mornings from now I’ll be sitting here looking at Tuesday night’s results and trying to figure it all out. In the meantime, I’m going to indulge myself and write down what I hope will happen on Tuesday and we’ll just have to wait and see whether I’m right or wrong.

I hope the Senate goes red, but the House stays blue. Because this would let the January 6th Committee continue to investigate and hold more hearings for as long as they like. At the same time, if the Senate goes red, we’ll get more airtime from idiots like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, as well as endless expressions of MAGA fealty from Lindsey Graham.

I’m also hoping that Donald Trump will wait for five minutes after the polls close on Tuesday to announce that he’s a candidate for 2024. I don’t think Trump cares one bit about becoming the first person to lose the popular vote for President three separate times.

What Trump does care about is that if he doesn’t shortly announce a 2024 campaign, he will really start to fade. And by the way, if Trump runs, he can continue to piss and moan about the ‘fix’ being in again.

Another result of a third Trump candidacy is that he’ll immediately be welcomed back on Twitter with open arms. How can Elon Musk claim he’s in favor of ‘free speech’ and not give a Presidential candidate an account? Maybe Musk will also give Trump…
