Trump Doesn’t Like the Polls.

So, as I predicted a couple of weeks ago, the polls which had Trump beating Joe in November are now beginning to move in Joe’s direction, reflecting the fact that he has begun ramping up his campaign.

And not only have the polls started to change, but the big change was the poll published earlier this week by — ready? — Fox News!

The Fox pollsters found that not only did the aggregate, national poll put Joe slightly ahead, but Trump was even slightly behind with rural voters, who have been Trump’s breadbasket in previous polls and in both the 2016 and 2020 electoral events.

If you go back to November 2023, which is when the first Trump-Biden matchup on the Fox poll scoreboard had an undecided number of less than 5%, Trump was at 50% and Joe was at 46%, and this breakdown between the two candidates basically didn’t change until this month.

Where Joe shows surprising growth in his polling numbers are with rural voters and the over-65 crowd, both groups always helping the GOP redress its failure to attract the votes of city dwellers and racial minorities over the years.

It should be understood, of course, that a slight shift in polls may or may not mean all that much, except that if it continues into the next Fox poll due to be conducted in July, it would perhaps signals the beginning of a…
