Trump Goes ‘Slumming’ in Spanish Harlem.

If one, single moment in the last eight years sums up what Donald Trump really represents in contemporary political life, it’s the moment this past Tuesday when the criminal defendant or President or Hitler Pig or whatever you want to call him got out of his limo at the corner of 139th Street and Broadway in Spanish Harlem and posed for some photo ops with a small but largely friendly crowd.

Trump was standing in front of a local deli, or bodega as such grocery stores are called in Spanish Harlem, where a clerk had been arrested then cleared after stabbing to death a guy who was trying to rob the store in 2022. The bodega worker happens to be in the Dominican Republic this week visiting family, but the visit by Trump to this particular location went on, nonetheless.

Trump’s visit was put together by a guy named Francisco Marte, who started something called the Bodega and Small Business Group, which claims to represent the owners of the corner delis which exist in every inner-city neighborhood and usually reflect the culture and language of the predominant ethnic population surrounding any particular store.

Rump’s visit made headlines briefly with the digital Fake News media in stories which often included interviews with so-called neighborhood ‘residents’ who just happened to show up at the same time that Trump showed up.
