Trump Loves the Jews.

If there’s one ethnic population in the United States which has never found any degree of alignment with the GOP, it’s the American-Jewish population, a group to which I happen to possess a birth membership and have been involved in various group activities over the past 75 or so years (I started after-school classes at our synagogue when I was 8 years old.)

According to Pew, 70% of American Jews are ‘affiliated’ with the Democrat(ic) Party, whatever the word ‘affiliated’ means. This percentage has evidently grown a bit since 2020, which shouldn’t come as a great surprise because as Trump continues to veer more to the alt-right, he’s just widening the gap between his views and the views of most American Jews.

When I was a kid growing up in the 1950’s, being Jewish and voting for the Democrats was like getting up in the morning and brushing your teeth. Almost all Jews in America came from an Eastern European background which was infused with Socialist and left-wing beliefs.

The only Jews who held conservative views on politics and everything else were the ultra-Orthodox, and this population existed only in miniscule numbers until the 1970’s or thereabouts.
