Trump Says He Loves Hispanics and Blacks. True or False?

If there’s anything about the current Presidential campaign which keeps me tuned into reports from both the MAGA echo chamber and the Fake News, it’s the attempt by Trump to promote himself as a great friend and supporter of racial minorities in this country, particularly Hispanics and blacks, whose votes could be a decisive factor in several of the critical swing states.

Last month during the hush-money trial in New York, Trump ran out of the courtroom following a session and showed up at a neighborhood in The Bronx, where he did some photo ops in front of a little bodega and made a point of recognizing the store clerk who stabbed a would-be robber and initially faced a murder charge which was later dropped.

Then last Thursday before the debate, Trump called into a meeting of some black business group in Atlanta and said what he has always said about his love of minorities, which is that blacks never had it so good under any other President, maybe including Lincoln who, after all, only freed the slaves.

Both events were completely staged by GOP-connected toadies, the latter by a black GOP Congressman out of Florida, the former by a guy who runs a so-called ‘association’ of Hispanic business owners in New York. But what’s so bad about a 30-second ‘news’ clip which gets on CNN showing Trump…
