Trump’s Real Estate ‘Empire’ Begins to Crumble.
I live in New England, specifically Massachusetts, so from now until the end of March I play golf by dreaming about golf. I dream about playing a round at Donld Ross’s Panorama masterpiece, or his other great course behind the Mt. Washington Hotel. From time to time I’ll also dream about playing the greatest course of them all, which is Tillinghast’s Split Rock course at Pelham, NY.
But today as I was dreaming about another round at one of my favorite courses, or maybe just going out to my home club and walking the Back 9, I happened to see an article about how one of the current PGA stars, Dustin Johnson, just announced that he would not leave the PGA tour to play in the LIV golf tour, which means that this attempt by Donald Trump to use Saudi money to compete with the PGA is probably going down the drain.
Trump lobbied the PGA endlessly to get one of his courses onto the tour, a strategy that completely went up in smoke after Trump couldn’t bring himself to immediately denounces the Nazis who marched through Charlottesville in 2017. In the aftermath of that event, the PGA made it clear that they would not consider using Trump as a host for any tour event, so Trump decided to show the PGA who was boss by starting his own golf tour.
