Want To Make A Buck? Hold A Political Protest In D.C.

For all the talk about how Donald Trump is trying to ‘maintain control’ over the GOP and is considering another Presidential campaign in 2024, what is really going on within the red-team’s party is a good, old-fashioned, and typically American tradition known as making a buck. And the bucks that are being made or is out there waiting to be made are the bucks that every red-blooded, American patriot is spending on whatever crap is sold on the internet to promote any racist or alt-Right (they are the same thing) brand.

This commerce in alt-right, political branding began with Donald Trump, who registered the MAGA brand as a trademark back in 2015. He’s still got more than 50 products for sale on his website, mostly the bumper stickers, t-shirts, flags and other paraphernalia which bears his name.

There’s also a smattering of websites where you can buy a ‘white lives matter’ t-shirt, which first started appearing after Black Lives Matter began selling their logo back in 2013. According to the Anti-Defamation League, the phrase is now used by various white supremacist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan. God only knows what the ADL would find to kvetch about if the Klan didn’t exist, but I’m sure they’d find something. After all, it’s not as if the ADL wants the Southern Poverty Law Center to have an uncontested shot at raising money from the alt-left.

If you think that I’m totally and completely convinced that this so-called ‘threat’ from various, racist/fascist group is nothing more than what Grandpa would call “hai cock und bubbe” (read: full of crap), you’d be correct. I’ll give anyone and everyone the short odds that today’s rally in D.C. to ‘free’ all those political prisoners will attract at least two media people for every protestor, and the ratio of cops to patriots will doubtless be at least three to one.

The so-called ‘gathering’ in front of the Capitol is primarily the handiwork of a political consultant, Matt Braynard, who worked briefly for Trump until he found himself unemployed after the election last year. So, he formed a non-profit called ‘Look Ahead America,’ which started raising money to promote the various schemes of the alt-Right, and then promptly lost its tax-exempt status because the group couldn’t account for how they spent the money that came in.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking that promoting today’s gathering of all those patriots in D.C. is just being handled by groups like the one formed by Braynard to give a get-out-of-jail-free-card to all those idiots arrested after January 6th. He’s getting plenty of help from ‘fake news’ organizations like CNN.

Braynard’s been interviewed multiple times by CNN even though he refuses to predict how many red-blooded (but peaceful, of course) protestors are going to show up today. The figure that’s being tossed around is between 500 to 700 people who are going to attend, as if this vast throng needs to be seen as any kind of threat at all.

There’s also been a mention on CNN of some ‘online chats’ containing comments about how there should be some violent assaults on synagogues and liberal churches today while the cops are all downtown guarding the Capitol steps. Know how many people need to be involved to hold an ‘online chat?’ Try one.

To Braynard’s credit, his website doesn’t yet have an online store. He’ll probably put a shopping cart up there when he loses his appeal to regain his tax-exempt status and has to refund the $75,000 or so dollars that he claims to have taken in since the IRS told him to fold up his not-for-profit tent.

Want to see what’s really going on in the alt-Right universe these days? Take a look at how Steve Bannon reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s comment that she’s the ‘most effective’ member of Congress.

In other words, it just doesn’t matter what you say any more as long as you can find a place on the internet to say it. And if you’re going to say something, why not also make a pitch for some junk that you can sell, and people can buy?

Or better yet, raffle off a so-called ‘sniper rifle’ which is a quick and easy way to build an email list which can then be used to peddle some more crap?
