Want To Sell a Gun? Go Get a License.

So, the Biden Administration evidently believes that gun control can improve their re-election prospects in a couple of swing states, and in that respect they are going to change one of the key gun regulations which defines who can, and who cannot be a dealer in guns.

Under current law, in order to run a gun business, you must get a dealer’s license from the ATF and every time you sell a gun to someone out of your inventory, that individual must first pass a background check.

But until now, the term ‘dealer’ has not really been defined, which means that lots of guns change hands for money, but no background check is run.

Most of this movement of unchecked guns occur at gun shows, where every weekend between fifty and a couple of hundred people rent display tables at 20 or 25 public gatherings where they sell guns, ammunition, knives, shooting accessories, clothing, jewelry and of course food.

The sellers of guns are for the most part old farts who go around to the shows in their necks of the woods where they meet and greet the same would-be buyers and the same other table-renters, all of whom come to the same gun shows the way that people go to model train shows, outdoor shows, marriage shows and home fix-it shows.
