Was That an Assassination Attempt?

So now we have a second attempt to assassinate Donald Trump, and like everyone else, I had something to say yesterday about how Trumpo’s constant invocation of violence made him an obvious target for someone who wanted to commit an act of violence using a gun.

The good news, of course, is that this time around the would-be assassin never got off a shot because the Secret Service had Trump covered to a much better degree than he was covered back in July when the bullet fired out of an AR-15 nearly took off Trump’s head.

Not only didn’t the shooter in Florida get off a shot, but according to the head of the Secret Service, he never even had Trump in his sights.

The Director of the Secret Service flew all the way down to Florida to release this statement, just to make sure that the detail guarding the former President got all the credit they deserved in order to make up for how they were criticized for fucking things up the last time around.

The Service did such a great job of protecting the former President that when the alleged assassin was brought into court and charged yesterday, he could only be accused of some violations of federal firearms laws, which could net him some serious jail time having nothing whatsoever to do with any kind of assassination attempt.
