What Can We Do About Anti-Semitism on Campus?

So, last night at 8 P.M. I stopped watching Godfather I on one of the HBO channels (the Corleone bunch had just learned that Luca Brasi was swimming with the fishes) and turned on the GOP Presidential debate.

Ten minutes or so into the debate, Lester Holt introduced a guy named Matthew Brooks who is the CEO of some organization called the Republican Jewish Coalition, and this guy proceeded to ask the five Presidential wannabees two questions, the first a question having to do with Iran supporting Hamas, and the second having to do with what he said was an ‘enormous’ increase in anti-Semitism on college campuses and why college faculty and administrators weren’t speaking out about this intolerable state of affairs.

I’m hardly a religious Jew in any sense of the word. But I am sensitive to anyone who uses Judaism or any other religion to score political points. And frankly, I was astonished that a national news network would allow this guy to make statements which were, if anything, more full of shit than what I was hearing from the five Presidential wannabees up on the stage.

He asked what needed to be done to respond to the increase in anti-Semitism on college campuses and the failure of University administrators and faculty to speak out against such outrage behavior.
