What To Do with All the Crap.

Back in 2008 when the economy was cratering, I happened to bump into a friend of mine named Jerry who had just taken 20 acres of unused land behind his automotive repair business and put up some rows of self-storage lockers.

When he told me that he had rented all of them within a week after he finished construction, being your typical, liberal ex-New Yorker, I said, “Of course you got them rente riht away. Everybody’s losing their homes thanks to this reession, right?

To which my friend laughed and replied, “Mike — I haven’t rented a single locker to anyone who’s lot their home. I’m all filled up because people have too much shit!”

I recalled this conversation yesterday when I heard an advertisement on the radio from a big chain in my area called Ocean State Job Lot which sells all kinds of discounted food, clothing, appliances and other crap bought from some other chain that went broke or maybe it’s stuff which as we say, fell off the back of the truck.

But what was interesting about the ad is that the voice-over made specific reference to how prices were going to go up because of the tariffs which meant that the bargains at this store would mean even more to the family budget.

Hmmm….

I’m thinking that maybe, just maybe, this whole tariff nonsense might result in…
