What Will Happen if Trump Wins?
So, as of the last day of September, Harris is 9/10ths of one percent away from the magic 50% mark in the national vote, but Trump has taken a 2/10ths of one percent lead in Pennsylvania, which basically puts him slightly ahead in the aggregate poll numbers for the seven battleground states.
The good news from a statistical perspective, is that the ‘undecided’ vote in both the national and the battleground polls is under 5 percent. Which means that with slightly more than a month to go before the chunky lady sings, the two campaigns will be fighting over roughly 4 percent of the people who might cast ballots in the 2024 race.
But here is where the good news for our side comes to an end because even though Kamala and Tim are moving towards a plurality in the national popular vote, the Democrats always seem to win the national popular vote, but the occupant of the Oval Office is just as often someone from the other side as it’s someone from the blue team.
And for all the talk about how we should abolish the Electoral College, which gives the other party an advantage because they always get all the electoral votes from states where the humans are outnumbered by the cows, such a fundamental change in the way we put together the governing coalition very four years isn’t about to happen overnight, or even in my lifetime.
