What’s Rudy Giuliani Selling These Days?
I don’t get it. I really just don’t get it.
How does a guy in one lifetime go from running the largest and most important government prosecutor’s office, then running the world’s largest and most important city to wind up hawking some overpriced coffee beans on the internet?
Do you remember what Rudy Giuliani was doing the day after the Twin Towers collapsed in Lower Manhattan on 9–11? He was running all over the place trying his best to rally the city from a devastating attack which was fearsome and destructive beyond belief.
He then transformed himself into a worldwide, roving ambassador to help other governments prepare to deal with the unthinkable which luckily never happened again.
This non-stop promotion of ‘America’s Mayor’ was deserved, even if Rudy tended at times to both exaggerate his role in New York City’s response to the Twin Towers attack, as well as his value to other jurisdictions who were getting ready to defend themselves from terrorist assaults.
In 2007, Rudy made the same mistake that several of his predecessors in New York’s City Hall had made, which was to announce his candidacy in the Republican Presidential sweepstakes which were set to begin the following year.
