Who Will Take the Oath? Donald Trump or Elon Musk?
To show you how much I have to do this week, I spent an hour or so yesterday watching the House debate the spending deal, and at some point, some member of the GOP from one of the dumb states, like Kansas or Missouri, started talking about how he supported the deal because it reflected the “priorities” of a man whom he admired a great deal.
I thought he was going to identify the man he admired as Donald Trump, but to my surprise this guy then went on to say the man’s name: Elon Musk!
What the fuck is going on here? Are we now headed into four years of the federal government being run by someone who has absolutely no Constitutional authority to manage any governmental activity at all?
Or better yet, if Trump figures out how to end birth-right citizenship, maybe that plan will also include some legal gimmick allowing Elon Musk to become the actual President even though he wasn’t born here.
There’s also some talk going around the GOP House caucus about how right now Musk could be appointed Speaker of the House, because it turns out that the party which holds the majority in the lower chamber can appoint anyone they want to appoint to be Speaker, because the position isn’t defined or even mentioned in the Constitution at all.
