Will Justice Alito Protect Trump?
My late uncle was an attorney who practiced law in New Jersey. His primary focus was on labor issues, in fact, he negotiated the contracts between various labor unions and Bergen County, which is where he lived and practiced law.
He also did general legal work on property issues and domestic disputes, and in the latter category once was hired by a man who had given primary custody of a child to his wife in a divorce but was now seeking to undo the initial divorce settlement and become the primary custodial parent because his ex-wife had been less than diligent in how she was raising their son.
My uncle presented substantial evidence about the ex-wife’s inability to provide a proper home environment for their child, citing frequent absences from the home and reports of excessive drinking and the use of drugs.
The case went to court and the original divorce agreement was voided, with my uncle’s client winning primary custody of his son.
The ex-wife then appealed the decision and her appeal eventually wound up in the State Court of Appeals, where the case was assigned to one specific judge. When this judge made his decision, the ex-wife’s appeal was upheld with the judge stating only that ‘children should be raised by their mothers,’ and that was the end of that.
