Will the Two Sides Ever Agree?

Every time I look at any political blog, the first thing I keep seeing is how ‘divided’ the country has become. And this narrative, which has now become the non plus ultra rationale for how politics are being played out in every public forum, seems to get stronger every week.

Now I happen to have several friends who are as rock-ribbed GOPers as I’m a yellow dog Democrat, and I don’t notice that I have any greater difficulty communicating with those two guys now than I did before.

They like Trump. I don’t. Big deal.

They’re opposed to welfare? I’d rather the government spends my money on food stamps than on guns.

They want to send all those immigrants back to their shithole countries of origin. I don’t know why we have national borders at all.

So, we don’t agree on anything when it comes to politics but we’re still good friends. And this is the reason why I think all those stories about how we are such a ‘divided’ nation are a bunch of crock.

And just to prove that maybe this constant bleating by the Fake News about how we are so divided is nothing more than what will continue to be the latest and greatest analysis of today’s politics until the next analysis comes about, I did a little research on the numbers which might be used to understand how divided we really…
