Will Trump Make the Government More Efficient?

I have to give Trump credit for taking advantage of the thirst for daily content from the Fake News, because he sure knows how to get headlines by making announcements that are totally and complete full of shit, viz., the opening of a new government program, the Department of Government Efficiency (GOVE) to be run by two business guys, Musk and Ramaswamy; the deportation of millions of so-called ‘illegal’ immigrants to be done by the military; and the naming of Mehmet Oz to run the government’s medical programs — Medicare and Medicaid.

I’ll deal with the deportation and medical programs over the next couple of days. But today I want to talk about how this DOGE nonsense will be organized and run by Ramaswamy and Musk.

The GOP has been promoting the idea of government being managed the way private companies are managed, as if this somehow will lower the costs of government (and cut your tax bill, btw) because everyone knows that businesses are only successful when they drive down costs and are managed efficiently.

So, all we need to do is take those same management techniques, apply them to how we manage the government, and the public sector will operate in a more efficient way.
